NEWTOWN, PA — Goodnoe Elementary School celebrated “First In Math” accomplishments on Wednesday with the help of State Senator Steve Santarsiero, State Rep. Perry Warren and First In Math’s Jenny Kling.

In a display of teamwork, perseverance, and academic excellence, the second-grade students at Goodnoe, led by teacher Mrs. Meghan Pearce, achieved national recognition on the First In Math digital platform.

Out of more than two million players and 122,478 teams competing across the United States during the 2024–25 school year, Goodnoe’s second-grade team earned the No. 1 national ranking for their grade level — a tremendous accomplishment that places them at the very top of the charts, said elementary math specialist Kristin Sink Gudusky. The second-graders’ achievement is part of an even broader success story, continued Gudusky. Among all schools nationwide, Goodnoe Elementary ranks third in the Top 500 Students, All Grades category, showcasing the school’s culture of excellence in math learning and engagement, said Gudusky.

With an average of 18,801 math problems solved per student and 500 students actively participating, Gudusky said Goodnoe continues to demonstrate what is possible when students are motivated, supported, and challenged to reach their highest potential.

Every child in this school contributed to the success story with the help of their family, the Goodnoe Elementary School teachers, the support of Principal Beth Fox, the Council Rock School District Administration, and Gudusky.
