Our Executive Officers
Steve Santarsiero
Chair
Senator Steve Santarsiero has been a public servant and champion of Democratic values in Bucks County for almost twenty years. A township supervisor in Lower Makefield from 2003-2008, Steve was then elected state Representative in HD-31 where he served from 2008-2017.
In 2017, Attorney General Josh Shapiro appointed Steve the first Chief Deputy Attorney General for Environmental Protection in Pennsylvania. In that role, Steve oversaw the prosecution of environmental crimes and led Pennsylvania’s efforts to fight the Trump Administration over proposed rollbacks of important environmental protections. Steve was sworn into office as State Senator in January, 2019.
Marissa Cohen
Executive Director
Marissa has been passionate about politics and advocacy for as long as she can remember. A Newtown native, she spent many of her pre-college years volunteering for campaigns and getting involved with the Council Rock North Young Democrats.
Marissa recently graduated summa cum laude from Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in political science and dance. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. While in college, she was a student manager at the Muhlenberg Institute of Public Opinion and the 2025 recipient of the Dr. Charles S. Bednar Award for Political Science. Marissa was an intern for Steve Santarsiero’s State Senate race in 2022, and came back to Bucks in 2025 as the BCDC’s first ever Deputy Executive Director. While not at work, she keeps up her love for dance as a member of the Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble in Philadelphia.
Matt Hoover

Matt is a 2008 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude. While there, Matt was a member of the Woolsack Honor Society as well as captain of the National Trial Team moot court competition.
